A superior man modest about his modesty May cross the great water. Good fortune.

Commentary

Modest and still more modest—humility doubled. This lets you attempt what arrogance cannot. Cross the great water; the passage is auspicious.

If Line 1 changes, Hexagram 15 Qian (Modesty) transforms into Hexagram 36 Ming Yi (Darkening of the Light).
